I beat a Mach1. But should my car be faster?

I only have a flowmaster exhaust an underdrive pulley and my air silencer reomved. I raced an 04 Mach1 and beat him.. Dont those cars have the cobra motor in them with different heads? My first run was 13.9 @101 This guy wanted to race a 2nd time, but i ended up racing a mercedes. which is a good thing because the mach 1 lost cotrol of his car and crossed both lanes and hit the guard rail. If i raced him i would have been right next to him and had no more mustang left :-) My car is the Black one in the 1st and 3rd pict.
What are stock Gt's supposed to run?

Your time was pretty darn good for a pretty much stock GT. The mach driver obviously cant drive worth a damn since he lost control like that. And stock machs will go mid to low 13's

:stupid: That's definitely a good time but yeah he should have spanked you. That poor Mach 1.

97_Cobra_Droptop 07-10-2006 06:30 AM

Yeah, stupid people shouldn't have nice cars. It was probably automatic too.

seancolon 07-10-2006 06:37 AM

his car was a 5 speed. he was an older guy probrably in his 40's really nice guy. I felt bad for him because he wasnt a cocky "my car is better then yours" guy. But i was happy with my run.. My buddie has an STI that ran 12.01 @ 120 so my measley run of 13.9 didnt really make an heads turn :-(

jjtgiants 07-10-2006 09:11 AM

Nice run man! 13.9 is pretty damn good for pretty much stock GT.

not to take anything away from your good run, but that guy in the Mach is a douche and can't drive for crap.....he should fix it after hitting the rail and then sell it cause he doesn't disserve it.

PureStang 07-10-2006 09:29 AM

thats wat i ran when i went to the track in april...i think we got the freakishly fast stock 2v motors..ahha

r3dn3ck 07-10-2006 10:17 AM

13.9 is entirely possible with a bone stock stang. I wouldn't call them freakishly fast. The mach should have spanked you. Shame it had to end in the death of another mach.

My launch time was .554 But I still cant get the hang of launching this car without to much wheel spin or to much bogging.. My 95 Gt and my 95 Trans Am were easy to launch.. But those 2 cars only ran mid 14's
The guy running the mach 1 said it was his 4th mustang he traded his 02 gt in for it. He said he missed 2nd when we raced, and then when he crashed he said it was because he grabbed 2nd and the tires over spun and put him sideways.

some of you "professional drivers" are being a little harsh on the Mach 1 driver don't you think? What if it was a mechanical failure that cause him to do what he did? What if he ran thru some fluid on the track that cause this? I find it funny with peoples posts before they even know the whole story. What if you were driving and your car did the same thing then people starting make accusations like some of you are doing before you know the whole story.

todd03blown 07-10-2006 10:28 AM

seancolon - sorry forgot to mention nice times on your GT; great job.

You are right. I take back what I said in my previous post. :beerchug:

Good Run....I've raced a Mach 1 before at the track. By 1000ft he was blowing by me like i was sitting still. What state are you in? What elevation? What was track temp? Air Temp? Do you have gears? 101mph seems kind of high for a "STOCK" stang.......I've only been over 100mph on one run and that was a 13.9 run...When I ran my 13.8 it was at 99.80mph....

BraggStang 07-11-2006 07:52 PM

Did you buy your car brand new?? Or used? Do you know all that has been done to it??

seancolon 07-14-2006 07:32 AM

Nah, i bought the car with 42000 miles on it. I dont think it has anything done to it at all. Doesnt even have a cold air intake on it.. I have vid of my car, BUT the didnt finish the race on this vid :-( I have another one that my friend shot, but i have to get a vid capture card to get it to the coputer.. heres my half vid..

seancolon 07-14-2006 07:35 AM

I am in Allentown PA i ran at island Dragway in NJ I have no idea what temp it was or elevation. My 2nd run was 14.4 but I missed 3rd gear (and i new i was going to miss, just because thats my luck when racing)

mustangV6_04 07-15-2006 09:39 AM

Why did you take out your headlight? It prolly don't help much.

seancolon 07-17-2006 07:01 AM

pretty much just took the headlight out to see if it would do anything.. SInce i dont have a cold air intake, the filter is not in the fenderwell, its right behind the headlight.. I just figured cant hurt to try what all the cobras were doing at the track..
