Mach 1's are fast

just got my ass handed to me by a Mach 1 with a full slp exhaust setup and a Diablo tune. No real point to this post, just giving props to the Mach.

zigzaggthefag321 06-05-2006 03:07 PM

Is the only difference between a Mach 1 and a GT the intake manifold and 3.55's or are Mach 1's 4v as well?

dfroster 06-05-2006 03:14 PM

4v.

jeredan2003 06-05-2006 03:36 PM

I watched a stock Mach 1 beat an LS1 Trans am from a dig. It was by about 1+ cars in the 1/8th mile....

I beat a Mach I up to the 1,000ft mark. I have it on video if you would like to see it. In about 6 months I will fear no Mach I.........

That Saleen kit must be slowing you down!!!! With you mods you should be eating Mach I's up!! He must not have been stock!!!!!

Saleen S330 06-05-2006 04:50 PM

I bet that Mach still had 20HP more than you to the wheels. Also depends on the driver....

Also they aren't that expensive. i've seen 03's sell for $19K with around 30K miles. They're sweet cars, especially the shaker hood.

40thblckgt 06-05-2006 04:55 PM

Mach 1s are a 4v quad cam 4.6. They have a forged crankshaft, cast rods, and cast pistons. Good for about 500 rwhp. :beerchug: Great cars.

Other than that, they have Tokico shocks and struts, 13 inch rotors (like the cobras).

Blk02stang 06-05-2006 05:51 PM

Yea the bottomend is really stong...considering my boy threw 2 rods through the block and bent 1 rod into a U and shattered 3 pistons! They arent cast like the cobra's!

I'm cammed and i barely pull on stock machs. Of course i'm an auto... Modded machs eat my lunch :bash:

Well, to me 19k is expensive. I almost bought an 01 Cobra with 75k on the odo, but they wanted 17 grand for it. I found my 01GT for 11.5k with 21k on the odo. I thought this was a great deal considering the options of the car. If I had a crap load of $$ I wouldnt have bought a stang anyway...it would have been Viper or Vette time...dont get me wrong I love my car...it's my dream car in the price range I can afford.

MattJ 06-05-2006 06:32 PM

Ive seen em run 13.2 100% stock. they are deffinetly quick.

dannyb785 06-05-2006 08:07 PM

I know swervo and jjtgiants have like 300 rwhp with just a tune and exhaust. And thats what csledd has after intake, tb, headers, exhaust, tune, and stage 2 cams. Those mach 1's are beasts alright

Yeah the 2v is nothing compared to the 4v or 3v, i am glad i am not sticking with the 2v, the most you can make out of the 2v NA is around 330rwhp, not worth the money

I was suprised my Mach responded so well to mods....I didn't get a baseline, but with only a cat back, prochamber, CAI and tune my car made 304rwhp and 330rwtq....I was really suprised actually. Ford pretty much made the mach's a drag car so they are pretty tough in a straight line... especially because of the solid axle and if you dealing with a mach with DR's or slicks....look out!

SpeedNovations 06-06-2006 12:17 PM

Yeah its my buddy's Mach. I beat'm with all my mods when his car was stock, but he recently added his catback, mid pipe, and a tune... Now he walks all over me!!! Those 4 Valves really do respond better to mods then my crappy 2V!

Teal_Beast 06-06-2006 12:30 PM

Mach's are certainly quick cars, i really want one for a daily driver for when the v6 gets to crazy.

sound good, make good power look good etc

jjtgiants 06-06-2006 12:34 PM

I think the best mod for a mach is 4:10 gears, I've heard the REALLY wake up the car........ but I haven't been able to do it yet cause I drive too much on the freeway...ok no bs, I basically fear the gear.

SpeedNovations 06-06-2006 12:47 PM

God I couldn't imagine if he got 4.10's in that thing!! I'd never be able to win!!
(And don't have gear fear!! I hated my 3.73's and got 4.10's. I drive it on the highway everyday to work. love'm)

Teal_Beast 06-06-2006 01:03 PM

dont fear the gear, those 4v's LOOVE TO SPIN. Get'r in the high RPMS faster where she does the best work

Saleen S330 06-06-2006 01:09 PM

IF you have bolt ons and 3.73s or higher, you can beat a 4V off the line or maybe a 20MPH roll, but by the time you hit 3rd almost 4th, they are passing you by and leaving you, their power is in the higer rpm band, that's why you definiltey want to gear 4V's to get them there quicker.
when i had basic bolt ons and 3.73 gears in my 95 GT, Stock 215 HP, i raced my friends 96 Cobra, dyno'd 292 to the wheels, I would beat him at a 20MPH start by 2 or 3 car lenghts but by the time i was in 3rd gear, he would blow past me like i was V6, no offense.

That's soooo true....I've been smacked pretty good by a couple of GT's off the line, but after 3rd it's bye bye! I know the 4 valves love to rev....I'm just waiting until it's not my DD then it's on!

I'm halfway there woohoo! Exhaust is in the mail :punk:

Tune later this summer prolly

And in Machs, 4.30's I think are probably the best gear, since they pull almost to 7k. I've got no power until 3k+, then you feel it picking up power rapidly, and 4-5k it's awesome!

Nice dude.....but didn't you tell me one time that you aren't wasting your time with "little mods" like exhaust and stuff! ha ha ha ha....oh well, I knew you'd come around eventually! Are you just doing a catback or catback and mid pipe?

If your doing both the catback and mid pipe take it easy on the throttle until you get a tune because your A/F might be pretty lean (every car is different). The day I installed my catback, prochamber and CAI I took it to get a tune.....my A/F was at a very dangerous 15.1 or something close to that.....anyway, just be careful....and enjoy

Teal_Beast 06-06-2006 04:57 PM

wow i wouldnt think just a midpipe would throw it off like that

jjtgiants 06-06-2006 05:00 PM

Well, it was the CAI, Catback and Prochamber combo that threw it off. I think if you just did 1 or maybe even 2 of those mods you probably would be ok, but mix all 3 and your more than likely running super lean. Apparently the Mach engines are pretty sensitive.

I don't remember exactly what the context was that I said I wasn't doing "little mods" in, but I just mean I'm not going to spend money for just a couple of hp. I don't expect any power from the exhaust, I just got it for sound. But no matter what I do later for big power, I'm going to need free flowing exhaust anyway.

I just got a Flowmaster American Thunder Cat Back system, should sound pretty sweet! Can't wait! :dots:

I didn't think my A/F would be even close to off with just a catback, but now that you said something I'm kinda worried...:surrender

With just a catback your just fine....I was just warning you cause I wasn't sure if you were getting a mid pipe and eventually a CAI....when you start adding 2 or 3 components that bring in more air into the engine you probably need to check your A/F, but with just a catback you'll be just fine....don't worry about it. :beerchug:

SlickSilverVert 06-06-2006 10:02 PM

Hmm?

So how much horsepower could I make with forged internals and I dunno a D1-sc @ 30lbs of boost?
GT 5spd.
