my first run ever...stock

well i went to bithlo on wednesday cause i wasnt able to go the other friday when i said i was...(first time ever at drag strip...) stock auto i ran 2 times cause i had to get home..

First run with friend in car :)
Ran a 14.7 (slip isnt on me)

2nd run went by myself -

R/T - .662
60' - 2.226
330 - 6.233
1/8 - 9.450
MPH - 77.05
1000 - 12.217
1/4 - 14.584
MPH - 95.34

i actually thing i did well for first time at track in my lil auto...lol :) but i thinik my 60foot and R/T was bad...

3V2000GT 04-28-2006 10:30 AM

not bad, work on those R/T and 60 foot and you should be good, I ran 14.7 on 5 good cylinders.......without nitrous, wish i would have known what i would have done if the engine wasnt blown:censored:

m0nkeh 04-28-2006 10:30 AM

yea, need to get R/T down and my 60foot to atleast 2.0

spike_africa 04-28-2006 02:41 PM

your r/t does nothing to your 1/4 at test n tunes. Your 60' sucks however.

jeredan2003 04-28-2006 02:53 PM

Yea just get that 60ft down and your times will drop alot.

Heres what I ran w/bolt ons and a nicer 60ft.......

R/T ... .022
60' ... 2.063
330 ... 5.822
1/8 ... 8.973
MPH... 79.26
1000.. 11.684
1/4 ... 13.884
MPH... 100.26

You should have similar result with a 2.0 60ft. This run was on Douglas crap tires. They have a 350 wear rating and I ran them with 30psi of pressure.

hes not trapping 100mph he wont go that fast. He really needs a used mid pipe to get rid of thsoe freaking cats, they hold back a ton of power.

jeredan2003 04-28-2006 04:29 PM

If you want to cut a nice R/T...launch the car as soon as you see the last yellow light on the tree. Your car doesnt make enough torque to redlight if you do that. It surprises alot of guys who dont know what theyre doing and they think you left before you were supposed to lol!

Yea those cats are choking that motor......it cant breath. I still dont see why they put all that restriction on it.....But you know its funny because the stock LS1 pipes from an SS camaro look just as restricting. They use cast headers into a Y-pipe w/ cats that is bolted onto a single pipe heading to the back. From there it goes into a huge muffler with dual outlets. From there it comes out the back. Its much different from our exhausts.

WHen i was big into my camaro it was a no-no to remove the cats. Supposedly you lost a ton of low end by doing so. Camaro exhaust are set up retarded, thats why they don't sound as good as a mustangs.

how can you say it sucks?? He's on regular street tires and completely stock with an auto. I say good job, you just need to open up the exhaust and you could get low 14's

a 2.2 60' is crap if you think its good i am sorry. its not like he was gonna do a 2.0 his first time with pratice he will get that 60' down.

WaterDR 04-28-2006 07:00 PM

I would say a 2.5 would be crappy and a 2.2 is sort of, well....crappy too.

I think that a 2.0 should be your goal on street tires and an otherwise stock car.

What concerns me is your trap. 95 mph is really kind of low x pipe or no x pipe. This is a sign of how much power you are making. IMO, I would definately get an x-pipe and then work on your launch. Don't worry about your R/T just yet.

Also, get a dam tuner. That may be some of your problem too. It will help the car shift better and get you a few more ponies.

Badfish 04-28-2006 07:17 PM

2.2 is more than crappy, that just plain sucks :/

dannyb785 04-28-2006 07:42 PM

wow

m0nkeh 04-28-2006 07:53 PM

well thx for making me feel like crap...lol...

its my VERY first time at the track so i wasnt expecting much...lol

i am gonna do SLP1 then a xpipe for my first mods...and gears and tuner AFTER that...

but for my first time, im happy with a 14.5 stock...tho it isnt good enough for u guys :(

WaterDR 04-28-2006 07:55 PM

Seriously, that is right where you should be with a stock auto.

Some people around here forget what the first time was like.

It takes some balls to take the car down the track if you have never done it before.

m0nkeh 04-28-2006 07:57 PM

yea lol, i was like "WTF AM I DOING" and my R/T aint good cause yea i went at green, not a drag pro yet guys lol...

atleast i didnt burnout in the burnout box like all the FWD imports did...atleast i rolled up and burned alittle...

i just wanted to get an idea of my car stock, so when i do mod, i can see the difference in time in all the areas... and my friends wanted to go so im like "well ill run a few.."

that was really my main point earlier. I dunno why some ppl were giving him crap. He's never done it before, he got a 2.2, thats awesome. I got 2.4 or worse my first few times running.

Blue02GT 04-28-2006 08:22 PM

Congrat's on your first trip down the track in your auto. Your time and trap speed look about right for a stock auto. Work on your 60' ( I used to run my street tires at 18-20 in the rear)

Cat's cost you 5 hp per side (10 total)
A good X pipe and catback will liven things up a bit. Gears (4.10's) will also make a big difference. So will some sticky tires.

StangAddict 04-28-2006 09:22 PM

yeah work on your 60ft, ive pulled a 1.95 on street tires in my vette and a 1.97 on street tires in the gt ;)

FullThrottleStang 04-29-2006 04:45 AM

I wish that I had run at the track before I got mods because I would have like to know what they were doing but my first run will be with a few mods. Oh well, I am hoping for a 13.8 or lower in June!!

Good Job Monkey, you'll get better!! :beerchug:

m0nkeh 04-29-2006 05:42 AM

lol thx

spike_africa 04-29-2006 08:46 AM

were not ripping on you we are just telling you that you have more in it, dont take it so hard.

m0nkeh 04-29-2006 02:21 PM

lol im not...im happy with my times for being stock...just means i gotta imporve and i know that.

now i just need a new job :)
