Cool How does this sound for a race?

I am trying to figure out what points to shift at etc here is what i think.
1. Drive around water box and spin DR's a few times
2. Line up put in first and rev to 2500 RPM's
3. When the x-mas tree goes pop off the clutch and smash the gas while feathering the clutch for about half a second.
4. Shift to 2nd aroung 5500 RPM'sby just puttin in thee clutch shiftin and poppin it out.
5. Shift to 3rd around 5500 RPM's by just popping out the clutch
6. Don't leave third gear.
Does this sound like a good race? 02 Gt 5-speed i will also get 3.73's soon.
Please no arguments on my gear selection later i'm doing a s/c and i drive the highway a lot. Any comments suggestions feel free. Oh i will have nitto 555R's (DR's)

going around the water is good then spin them in the water to get wet. roll forward and smoke them for a good 7sec i would say.

stage at 3k or more it will bog at 2,500rpms. i use 3,700rpms and it seems to work well for me. and you do not pop the clutch then feather it you feather it all the way out.

and shifting at 5,500 is the perfect rpm to shift and deffinatly leave it in 3rd gear with stock rear end gears.

with 3:73's you'll have to shift to 4th, with stock gears I almost have to, my best trap was 102.97, and that's really pushing 3rd.

The best thing you can do is see if the track you plan on useing has a test and tune day where you can get multiple back to back run's to fiqure out what works best. When drag racing a natural aspirated engine you want to shift at 300-500 rpms above your peak horspower rpm, wich is aprox 5500-5700 rpms for your engine. I would recommend during a few practice runs to dump the clutch after you see the last yellow light before the green,if you wait to see the green you will have a slower reaction time. The drag radials with proper warm up and good track conditions will hook up well enough most times that you won't have to ride or feather your clutch as long as you don't go overboard at the rpms you launch at,slight wheelspin won't hurt you one bit with the shallow gears your running as long as you don't incinerate your tires all the way through first gear.

if you have dr's you reall don't need to go in the waterbox, as you won't have any trouble burning the tires wether dry or wet! My suggestion is give them a good 5-10 sec burn out, stage and leave at 3k and shift at 5800 if you got the stock redline! Powershift like you stole the car and you'll be fine! Do you have an aftermarket shifter already?

i would first check tire preasure buy doing dry hops in a parking lot to find out the lowes preasure you can get with out having the cup in the midle ( indicated by being lighter in the center of the marks on the pavement) is should be consitiant acrous the mark this will give you the largest footprint available. at the track do a 5-7 second brake stand or line lock burn out and roul out about 5 feet stage at 4000rpm and feather the clutch fast and power shift it all the way at 5700 1-2 5500 2-3 Unless its not your car then just lift off the gas a little to break the tension on the gears and yank the lever (forget the clutch)

If you're on Nittos, here's what I do:
go through the water, and do a good burnout (usually about 10-15 secs...maybe a lil less). Bring the rpm's up to around 4000, and walk it out pretty fast. It seems if I just dump it, it'll spin bad, and if I dump it from a lower rpm, it will bog. I shift at 6000, and with 3.73's in mine I go through the traps around 83 mph (in the 1/8th), and I shift into 4th at 90, so you will HAVE to go into 4th with the gears!
Hope this helps!
