Tire Size for Deep Dish Bullitts

What size tires can be run on the 17" deep dish bullitt wheels? I know the page says up to a 315, but I only see 315's in drag radials. Would a 285 look funny?

I don't want DR's on these, I'm going to put DR's on my stock wheels for track duty since I'm not making the power to have 315's be necessary.

285's should be okay, might be a little bowed out though. My roommates 315's fit the wheel perfectley, if you are going to get regular tires i'd still stick with 315's

I'd love to but I can't find a 315 street tire for a 17" wheel. At least not with the tire company's I prefer

Sumitomo makes a 315...I have them on my car, and they rock!

$114 per tire is a killer deal at tirerack right now...

04DarkShadowGT 05-07-2005 07:05 AM

I have the 315 sumitomos and they are ok. They really dont have much more grip than the stock 245s.

I would go with a different tire next time.

MidTex01GT 05-09-2005 08:21 AM

Which tire can we go with instead of the sumitomos? I am eyeing a set of bulitt deep dish myself, but don't want to run into tire limitations. That is why I am staying away from the 18" set... :sad3:

xcler8 05-09-2005 08:23 AM

Just type in 315/35 17 into www.tirerack.com's search bar, and you will find a ton of tires that will fit...just find the ones that match your budget.

MidTex01GT 05-09-2005 09:05 AM

Thanks for the help! Now what size am I looking for in the fronts for this setup? Mustangtuning.com has a good price for the bullitt deep dish right now...

dark_cobra 05-10-2005 11:45 AM

deep dish go in the back not the front..

You'll have terrible performance with a wide tire up there on a DD rim... It'll track all over the place on the road

275 width max up front or it'll suffer.

MidTex01GT 05-10-2005 12:29 PM

Well I knew that......I was just wondering if I should just go with the stock size...

Smitty 05-10-2005 09:38 PM

a 17x10.5 rim will take a 275/40/17 tire. Now that's the smallest you can put on there.

315/35/17 I think it is is the widest you can go.

I have the stock 17X8 anthricite bullits on the front with a 245 and the 17 X 10.5 anthricite bullits from MT on the back with the 315. Looks and drives great.

The color is very close too, you have to look hard to tell. It just looks like the fake bullits are a little brighter than the OEM ones.

SLPrStang04 05-18-2005 06:21 AM

gotta pic of the deep dish bullitts compared too the oem ones? I'd like too see how big of a difference it is, because I already have 275/40/17's on the car on the stock 8's on the rear and 255/40/17's up front, a pic would be great :)

Deep Dish

I'm very intersted in the deep dish 18x10's so what you guys are saying is I should stagger with maybe either an 18x8 or a 17x8 in the front? What is this that a deep dish will not work in the front? I have a V6 convetible and it is in very bad need of some CHROME!

Well, there are several options. Does your car come with bullits already? If so what year did they come off of? I think 01+ stock bullits will match a lot closer to the Mustang Tuning (which is wheel replica rims) bullit rims. You could leave it 17x8 (stock) up front while taking the rear to 17x10.5 Don't make it 17x8 or 17x9 up front then 18x10 in the rear. I think that doesn't look right.

I have 18x9 on the front with 265/35/18's and 18x10 on the rear with 285/35/18's. They are a deeper dish than the factory on front and yes they will fit :icon_thum

Deep Dish

Thanks fellows! :notworthy Right now I do not have Bullits and I think I will be going with the 18x9 and 18x10 set up in the deep dish from the MT :glasses1:

Actually its more like 02+ it matches...01 its slightly off. I think its a little darker for the 01's.

I have 255/40/17's (Sumitomo) and 275/40/17's (Dunlop SP 5000) on the rear of my '98. So far so good. I like the Sumitomo's and will switch the rear's to that brand once they wear down some more. As far as the OEM bullits and the ones MT has: Since I now have the aftermarket ones, I notice the OEM rims on cars all the time and they don't look as good to me. The color is LIGHT grey compared to the darker, meaner, looking grey the aftermarket rim has. Plus the aftermarket rim has a SHINE to it (they probably clearcoated the paint on the rim), so when they're clean they get noticed! Lastly the polished lip on the aftermarket bullits stand out more than the OEM bullits. Just thought I'd give my personal 2 cents. Check pics of my car at: http://members.cardomain.com/rmonyer
or you can find me on different threads here in Mustang tuning. Good luck.
