Wheel Spacers
 

I noticed MT offered new 1" wheel spacers. I have my assumptions, but can someone clarify for me the intent and application of this part. If I'm right, it's one that can save me money. Thanx

my guess would be that so you can put a deeper offset wheel on your rear.

They are made to make your wheel's come out farther for that not so tucked in look.They can make your stock rim's look like wider rims on the back and aftermarket wheel's as well.

I ask because the 99+ SVT Cobras with IRS can't accept 10.5" wide rims w/out suspension mods, and every mechanic I've talked to says my 97 needs the mods done, but every time I look under there I see a solid rear axel. I was curious if the spacers would allow a 10.5" wide rims without IRS mods, or if they're really just for looks and keeping wide wheels/tires off your exhaust. And can anyone tell me once and for all if a 97 can take 10.5" rims without mods? I currently have 18X9/10, and was told I can put a 315 on the rim, but not without suspension mods, then I've been told the wheel well won't hold anything larger than a 285. I can't find specifics anywhere. Please help :helpsmili

My older brother once told me that using spacers like these might be detrimental to my car, as it interferes or alters the transfer of torque, and worse case scenario can end in a snapped axle... :confused:

The wheel well can hold a 315, but you might have to remove and or flip the quad shocks. 96-98 SVT's have solid rear axles, no IRS. The spacers would be overkill for 17x10.5", and it will move the wheel outside of the wheel well. You might have to fudge w/ your exhaust though. Some people do, some dont.

Quad shocks are a PITA, so my suggestion to you would be to just remove them and get better lower control arms. You'll hook better and you get to remove a pointless piece of hardware :).

Who offers good lower control arms, or a control arm/suspension kit? If the wheel well already holds 315s, I won't need to change my wheels again, but upgraded suspension always rocks. Thanx

So MM rear lower control arms will bolt up with aftermarket lowered suspention and then I can throw on 315s with no suspension clearance issues, maybe exhaust, maybe not, and eliminate axel windup and improve traction and handling all at once. Does anyone offer upper rear control arms, or can the 99-04 GT ones fit/mod to fit, and still work with lowered suspension?

FRPP Uppers. Best in the industry in my opinion.
