5.0L HO Block identification

Hopefully somebody here will be able to help and advise. I have a 5L HO Mustang engine apparently from an 87 mustang. i want to use the engine in a replica GT40 but for UK registration purposes i need to prove the age of the Engine block.

Now i have found out all about the 4 digit ford casting number scheme but nothing is cast on the block that correspond to this. All the other bits in hte engine, Crank, heads, etc have E7xx cast making it 87, but he vehicle inspectrate only cares about he engine block.

So i have found various casting marks but nothing suggesting what should be there.

Can anybody help?

Pain in the rear

Before I shipped my car overseas I had to locate the block #. It took a state trooper 45 min to locate this, thank God he is a friend. The # is on the rear of the block, by the fire wall. He felt it necessay to make a chalk line pointing to it so the authorities could find it. I am not sure if this is what you are looking for, but this is usually what they are looking for. I hope this helps you out.

Will check this out today, was is stamped on the block deck near the dizzy that is not covered by the inlet manifold ( there are some unreadable stamps here) or was it cast ?

i will try to decipher the markings again and maybe post my findings to see if any body has a clue
