Post Need More Speed!!

I Just Bought A 1990lx Sport 5.0 Auto. Iwant To Upgrade To Bigger Throttle Body, Injectors And Mass Air. Like To Go 24lb. Whats The First Step? Mods Already Done Are...mac Cold Air Intake, Flex A Lite Cooling. Eibach Lowering Springs. I Just Want More Power And I Dont Know Where To Start. It Definitely Does Need More Power Off The Line, As Do Most Auto 5.0 Mustangs, Any Suggestions??

I spose you could start out with 3.73 rear end gears if you want more off the line power, it will wake your car up. Other thoughts would be H or X-pipe, Exhaust, Throttle Body, Intake, Pullies, it depends on how much you want to spend. Get a Mid-pipe to free up some ponies for one of the better bang for your buck mods.

Thumbs up throttlebody suggestions??

thats a good idea, but does just adding a bigger throttle body really even make a difference without changing anything else?

Go carburated, victor jr intake and and 700 cfm carb and a new distributor..i know someone who did that and it wasted less gas than when it was EFI. I got lucky and got a victor Jr intake for 150 used, practicaly brand new. can get a good carb for a couple hundred and a stock distributor for like 50 dollars i think, i still need to buy mine, but his stang had more go when he went to carburated.

i agree then add a bigger cam and roller rockers shift kit and torque converter

Im 37. Half my stangs were carburated and made great power low mid and high but i dont think he wants to go that way.

You dont need the 24lb injectors till you go over 300hp, and with more fuel pressure you can get away with some more hp. Dont waste your money on bigger injectors, they wont make more power.

Get some gears and a Off road pipe first. Pull the silencer. Next up cam and heads, Cams for 5.0s are a real bang for the buck, Under $200, not Close to $600 like modular motors!!

If you have some cash, Check the forums and local ads for some good used Heads, Make sure you can inspect them and the seller will guarantee no cracks.

A good torque converter will rock you off the line, But just like heads, they arent cheap. Also as soon as you can, add a Transmission cooler to your AOD, they are cheap and will keep that AOD alive longer. Ive put tranny coolers on every Automatic ive owned, And even My 2002 F150 4x4 i put one on.
