Default color of the cold air intake

i know there is prolly a 50/50 shot that people say cold air intake doesnt do anything, or that it does

but ive been reading and im wondering if the color of the tube makes a difference, should it be a darker or lighter color?

anyone experiment with colors and find that one works better then the other?

It doesnt matter unless you drive around without a hood.

Its dark under the hood. Unless your putting a skylight in your hood over the intake, I don't think color is going to matter.

If your serious...color doesn't matter the only thing that people ay is that the type of tube that you use can have different effects...mainly heat, I've heard that it is better to use a pvc tube like JLT or Demolet is better than metal like most brands, I have only used one type which is the one from www.demolet.com and it works great., doesn't work for those who like the bling but I don't car for looks under the hood.

Actually, it is really not that silly of a question. When it comes to heat or rather, absorption of heat, color can make a large difference. Thing is, though, with a CAI automotive application, I seriously doubt the incomming air has much of a chance to change temp anyway as it stays in the tube about a milisecond.

yeah, basic physics, darked colors absorb more heat then a lighter color...like at 5 in the afternoon, touch a white car, then touch a black car...then dipyour hand in water cause the black car is hot as hell while the white car isnt really that hot.

Dont get the blue ones, because the Reds ones add a lot more HP.

But seriously, they were made chrome for a reason, so if sun beams hit your intake, the mirror like reflects the heat waves.

that is very true, but when it is under the hood color wont matter because there is no light for it to absorb or reflect.

there are no dumb questions... just dumb people

UR on the right track, but in the case of CAI's it is not the color but rather the material the tube is made out of. Tubes made from metal will absorb engine heat faster, but metal will also release the heat quicker. A plastic or composite tube will absorb heat slower but will retain the heat longer.
