Default considering a 5.0 swap

i am getting 5 grand from the national guard as a bonus sometime this winter, and i am considering a 5.0 swap, because i am always finding those engines for 300 and 400 bucks, complete, on Craigslist. a lot cheaper than Modulars. that, and they sound better. flowmasters on a 5.0 engine? yes please.

so, what niggly little parts do i need for my 1998 4.6 liter GT to make the swap?

"Niggly litle parts" would include throttle cables, the vacuum reservoirs from inside the passenger side fenderwell, engine harness, computer and harness, probably will need to switch the dash harness and cluster too, and I'm sure there's more that I can't remember. Not so "niggly" parts would be the transmission and bellhousing, starter, K-member, and a vacuum brake booster and master cylinder, H-pipe, ... are you sure about this?
Everyone says it, but they're right, a donor car would be the easiest way to get all the parts, "niggly" or not.

screw that by the time you spend all that cash on the swap you could of had a fast 2v. Swap your heads and intake out for good ones and you will make power.

dude, with 5k you can get ALOT out of your 4.6. get a 5.0 stroker kit, TFS's new heads, and some cams, thats maybe 1k. follow that up with boosting the fuel system, and get a custom tune. you'll have plenty of power, and money left in your pocket. The 5.0 swap is not easy, or fun. Donor car really is only way to go.

id do it if u finda cheap donor car.. i wanna do it to my 2002. even thou the 5.0's nowhere near the 4.6 in power/smoothness, the 5.0 was def best in 94-98 years. But in your case you can do a PI swap and make good HP. I want a 5.0 for reliability and good sound, and power. over head cams never do work out for me.

96-98 mustangs didn't have a 5.0. They switched to the 4.6 in 96. If I was going to have a 5.0, it would be a 93. That motor should stay with the fox bodies.

i know they switched to the 4.6 in those years. i was just saying out of those year models the 5.0 was better than the 4.6. Except a Cobra with DOHC.

Just buy a 94-95 GT, they're pretty cheap these days, then you've got a DD and one for fun.
