CRAZY idle.......
 

When the car starts up its seems to idle fine.. But after a minute or so the idle raises to 2,000 and holds for a little while... Then slowly falls down to normal idle. The car does this over and over. The tps volts never change during this..Also when i drive the car it almost feels like the cruise control is on (not hooked up) the rpm just will not come down to idle... thanks brian

My best guess would be the mass airflow sensor. Honestly, it's just a guess though. I've never had that problem before.

You will definately want to play with your base idle and tps sensor to cure this. My car used to do everything you described horribly. 1st check the TPS sensor and make sure its close or under 1 volt with the ignition on car off. Start the car get it to idle low with the IAC/idle bypass valve unplugged by turning the idle screw on the throttle body; set it at about 500 or 600 rpms. Then once you have that set plug the IAC back in your rpms should now jump up to about 800-1000 rpms; just fine tune it and get where you want it. I know your supposed to use a volt meter and set the TPS just under 1 volt with the ignition on car off, but I have had better luck when the car is running just loosen the tps screws and turn it a little at a time until the car stops surging/idleing up and down. It should run idle decent now and not have the cruise control effect you speak of...Atleast this worked for me
