Performance upgrades? do it or dont?
I have a 95 mustang gt vert auto trans. theupgrades i have done right now are in my sig. i want to do a new set of heads or an explorer replacement, a cam, and an upper and lower intake. the only problem is...is it worth it? i have over 104,000 miles so are those upgrades worth it or spend it on style or save for a new stang?
As long as you are happy with your car I don't see why they wouldn't work.
Its totally worth it. Also I would get something besides explorer parts as there are much better heads out there.
alright now we are onto the next question. what are some good intakes, and head/cam combo that are good for my high mileage mustang? there are plenty of differernt types of all those, i want to know a good part, that is still cheap in price. is it better to go for a used one or new?
another question. this may be a stupid one but will a set of upper and lower cobra intake from a 95 work on my 95 5.0? and is that a good change in intake or go for something else?
You consider 104k high mileage?

High mileage (to me) is once you get past 180k.

If you get new heads and intake that would be great cause you can relpace all the gaskets when you do it and it will actually take years off your car. A big problem with engines dying are old gaskets failing so if those get replaced you are adding life to your ride.

it cant be anything too crazy because this is a daily driver

I think you should save your money and buy a new mustang. Unless you really like the stang. Good luck pal with whatever you choose, only you can make the right decision. Just look deep inside your little mustang heart and the answer, you are sure to hear.

ya i wish i could save up that much money for a brand new stang. wouldnt mind getting a 2010 when it comes out, yet i am 18 and it would take me a very long time with my serving job to get to that level. especially with insurance $$$$$$, we'll see what will happen. i would really enjoy any 2005 and up with a v8 but it will take time, saving a lot of money, and im not sure i want to part with the 95 just yet :-( but it seems like everyone has to get rid of their first stang eventually, especially with the new technology
what is your budget?
what type of hp gains are you looking for? |
budget..i would say about 600 at the time. im obviously not looking for any numbers in the range of forced induction. maybe some minor upgrades here and there but powerfull enough to boost numbers a little....gears, headers, chip and so on?
For that amount of money Nitrous is the way to go.
Thats not high milage on a 5.0. My motor has 170k and is just now starting to act up. Mods all depend on how fast you wanna go and how much money you wanna spend. A Trick Flow intake and some gt40's and a good cam are a good start. Thats just what I think. There are alot of good cheap combos out there. Thats what is so good about the 5.0.
