First Aluminum heads on a 302

Hi folks - first time posting. I'm trying to get some information on the FIRST use of an aluminum cylinder head on a 302 Ford. It could be experimental, production, european, whatever. The closest I have found, is a Dan Gurney 305 in 1967.

I'm hoping to find any use of an aluminum cylinder head on a 302 prior to 1988.

Thanks!

No clue but i had an original set of High port heads, but before they were made by trick flow. Had KPI stamped on the side. I know thats not what you were asking, just a little useless info for someone who happens to click this link.

FWIW, the castings were identical to the TFS trickflows other than the letters stamped on the ends. From my understanding TFS bought them, then KPI bought them back and wouldnt sell them back to TFS. This is all what I read however and cant say 100% forsure. /back to your regularly scheduled thread

Think it was an AR head (Allan Richardson) not sure when but it was a long, long time ago. This was a production/aftermarket head, experimental maybe earlier..

I'm betting that the first use was probably on a radical (for the time) flathead Ford v8. Something like a destroked 335 FH. Aluminum heads for flatheads are cake to whittle out on a mill and more hotrodding development has been done on flathead motors than probably any other platform. Remember, real hot rods don't have valve covers.
