ECM problems. Need Help
 

I just finished the install of my off road x-pipe and bbk headers. Everything was perfect for about a week. Then all of a sudden when i start up the car the idle jumps to about 1800-2000 for about 30secs and the check engine starts flashing. then the car runs like shit for about 5 mins. no power and heavy shaking at low rpms. Then everything runs good. after about 20mins the check engine comes up but it dosent affect the performance at all. I reset the TPS and set the IAC. Me and my mechanic(dad) tried pulling codes with two different machines and we get unable to communicate/error codes. My father seems to think it a fryed ECM. Has anyone had this problem or have any suggestions on what it could be??? I think it might be MAF but i dont know for sure. Thanks.:t:

vacuum leak and bad 02 sensor. If your ECU was fried or even partially damaged your car would not even start.

It is a common mistake but 1995 GTs are not OBD2 compatible, the port under the dash is useless. The '95 v6 were OBD2 and that's why the plug is there. GTs didn't go OBD2 until '96. To pull your codes, you have to use the port under the hood...

Sopmeone here may be able to help but do a search on stangnet, I remember there being a pretty in depth write up about it.. it involved paper clips if I remember.

i did use the one under the hood on the passanger side. Your right thought not too many people know that 95 were Ford OBD. Ive come to the conclusion that im going to change everything out O2 sensors, TPS, IAC, and MAF. and if that doset work then im gonna fill the car with dynamite and blow that shit up.

did you use readers or a test light? That is strange. Gut it and put in a carbed big block

so i changed the TPS and the IAC still having the same old problem. has anyone heard of the little box that all the MAF and temp sensor hook into going bad. i dont even know the proper name for it. Has anyone ever replaced or does it never go bad???

that's the MAF sensor itself. And yeah they can go bad like anything else. It's definitely not getting a read on one or more sensors. The way you're describing it it could well be that the MAF sensor is dirty. Try cleaning then replacing it.

it was the MAF sensor Module. on the older mustang 87-93 it was located on the distributor. on the 94-95 it located under the airbox. replaced and problem fixed. its been having problems for so long it feels like a new car :) :D Thanks for all your help.
