here's a question i was reading up in one my mags, it said that the full length headers add 16-25 hp, would after market shorty headers make about the same?i like the sound of the full length headers but I also have shorty headers on my 94 cobra pace car motor, so i was just wondering if anyone would happen to know. i mean after all they both are doing the same purpose making the car exhaust the air out better with wide pipes

long tubes make alittle more torque, but unless you running 400+ hp the different is pretty small.

LTs make more power everywhere then Shorties...
Are LTs necessary? Well thats your call... Installing LTs isn't exactly cake, they are big and bulky. If you have every installed any header, you know that they are bitch on mustangs... SO you can imagine how big of a PITA LTs can be. Furthermore, LTs will require a new mid pipe. So you aren't JUST buying the headers, but also a new mid pipe. On top of that, you need to worry about emissions. If you plan on passing legally, these may make that a tad more difficult in some states. Yet, when it comes to performance and sound, Long Tubes are better then any other type of header. |

yeah i would really like to get the LT's, but like you said they are a pinta and i dont really want to have to buy a new mid pipe. i'll most likely stick with the shorty's, just for budget reasons and the whole emissions bs.

I have a 94 as well. I have a set of MAC equal length shorties... I like them, would recommend them over regular shorties...

Long tubes will add the most hp as most people said.
The reason that some Mustang owners (in general) buy shorties or equal length is for two reasons. One, they are going with a turbo kit where long tubes physically won't work. Or two, they have a different sound than the long tubes that they prefer. Just my .002. ![]()

Yeah...that too...although in my opinion I could care less about how hard or easy they are to install and more about the first two factors. Again, just my opinion.

i just installed a set of unequal length BBK headers and it was the biggest pain. I had to lift the motor 3 inches so i could slide them in. i couldnt even imagine what a long tube install would be like. stick with the shortys especailly if your planning on doing it urself.
