i have a 87 5.0 lx when its ideling it smells like it flooding it rolls black smoke and when i goose it it backfires thru the intake i thought it was the cam but i installed a new one and it stilldoes it can any one help

that could be any number of issues. I'll bet you have a fugged up injector. Get thee to a mechanic with a grand in hand.

Hi everyone. New to the forum, but not Mustangs. I believe you need a new computer. A buddy of mine had the same problem on an 89 Mustang and after trying several different things (new IAC, TP sensor etc, etc) he finally tried a new computer. Fixed the problem.
