I would defantley go with the electric water pump. The technology has been around long enough now that the pump's are actually reliable. There is also one other idea. There's a company that sells a water pump alternator combo that is pretty slick.

where have you been the last 5 years or so.

Depends on what you want, a regular mechanicla pump will be cheaper. While the eletric is more money but does free up some more power because the engine doesnt have to turn the pump.

Me im all for more hp.

send me a link...

then what do you do with the old one? just don't run the belt to it and leave it there?

Wow...hold the phone guys. Sure, electric makes more power, but NOT good for daily street driving. Mechanical water pumps run at a speed proportional to engine rpms. Electric ones are constant. They are really intending for drag racing.

Im probaly going with elec. because all i do with the car is drag racing and street racing. What is a good brand to get?

the mean time to failure of the electrics is well into the range now that they can be daily driven. I don't like the idea of daily driving on an electric personally (unless you carry a mechanical in the trunk) but in general it's not a 100% bad idea.

Mezerie or go home on a tow truck. These new E-pumps are made to last a long time now. E-pumps if its a good one is fine on the street.
