I can find you a 5.0 for sure around here. There are a few that probally have more RWHP than what that motor you want will be pushing.

I've seen some insane 5.0's around this area. And probally cheaper than what your looking to spend.

To answer your original question, the stock T5 is getting pretty iffy at 300hp. You'd be better off going with a TKO or even a Viper-spec T56, but that shoots your budget to hell.

well the mounts should line up... if you stray from a 302 you may need a bellhousing...

Uh the big things are axels, upgrade those if you plan on putting power to the ground...

The T-5 should be ok... If your worried then go get it built...

and you will have to clean up some wires... pull that computer... which makes it easy...

You won't need to get it dynoed... The carb adjustments can be done in your garage if ya know how to do it...

Ya'll want a bigger radiator too...

A 302 to 302 if a pretty easy straight foward swap... everything bolts up the same... ya'll run into little problems that you can work out on your own...

If I were you... Id buy a mustang... pull the motor, bore and stroke it... get a nice cam and some good aluminum heads and ya'll be set... Itd be more fun to build the engine yourself

the cool think about this is it would be a total project car. i got a reliable daily driver, so i could take my time with it and do it right.
well modding a foxbody is cheap as hell...

If you go carb'd-
Its cheaper, easier to work on (in that way releyable) but burns more gas (unrel in that way)

EFI-
You can make more power, its more expensive, a headache to work on but if done right should be problem free...

NASCAR and dragracing still use carb'd OHV engines

Since you're putting a new engine in anyway does it matter if the body is a GT or not or are there differences?

different suspension as well... You cant put a heavier engne in a car and expect the suspension to be a-ok... same goes for drivetrain components

Chris... just make sure whatever you buy has a v8 in it... Whether its an LX, GT, or Cobra...

LX is a racers favorite because they are light...

and the LX was made with a 302... many people think it only came with non v8s... idk why

for 6 grand you can build a much better motor. pick up a DSS short block, a set of AFR 185's, a carb and intake of your choice. some medium quality valve covers and oil pan. you can do better yourself, i promise. you can have the machine shop set up your short block cam and all. you assemble the upper end, put a pan on it, drop it in. ide check corral for a deal on the stuff you need for a tranny swap/build. Ive got a tremec 3550 in mine and its a great tranny, itll be even better when im making enough power to put it to work. 12 grand goes a really long way in a fox mustang. check nmra, corral, mustang forums, keep an eye on the classifieds. i had to find a car on about a third of your budget, and i found a good car. just look over a few months and jump on the right car!

I agree. you can find a nice fox built from top to bottom in pristine condition for 12 grand if thats your price. you can expect a clean pristine body, built engine, and supercharged putting down 500+ if you keep your eyes peeled for a while.

ya'll be fine with the power... takes some adjusting... so take your time...

i think you should get a four eye personally...

take the stock 302... bore and stroke to a 331... drop some heads and a cam... get a nice 4 barrel holly... and maybe get some juice...
