94 rearend

I was walking through my local junkyard and found a 94 GT. It has the 8.8 rear with disc brakes. I was wondering exactly what parts I needed to get off the 94 to put this rear in my 86. Obviously the rearend but what about the e-brake cables. My 86 had the 7.5 in it with the drums so do I need all the brake lines associated with the 8.8. I just want to make sure I get everything I need in one trip. I don't have time for multiple trips to get this right. The car also has Eibach springs in it and the owner of the junkyard said he would let me have the springs if I bought the rear so that's something I could sell for a little cash back. Also thinking about picking up the front suspension to complete the 5 lug conversion.

Does your 86 have ABS?
The '94 rear should have ABS... idk how easy of a swap that'll be... I think you'd need to do something with the computer...

I guess you could forget the ABS and not hook it up...

honestly... i don't know... mechanicly, all you should need is the rear, wheels, & brake stuff...

I think it's a fairly involved swap for the average shade tree mechanic. If I recall correctly, the 94/95 are wider than the fox bodies so your offset would be different for your wheels. They are also 5 lug versus the 4 lug on your '86 (unless you've already done a 5 lug swap) so you would need to change out the front as well. The main thing with the rear would be the mounting points for the UCA and LCA. If they are at all different, then you would need to have them moved and welded back on, or have custom control arms made. If you're looking for just the disc brakes on the back, I think you can get a conversion that is much less involved.

it's pretty simple to do at the nuts and bolts level, just get everything that's directly attached to the axle including sway bar, control arms, brakes, e-brake cables. Measure the thing so you'll know what kinds of clearance issues you'll have with the width and measure the distances between control arm mounting points. the uppers will cinch right up but the lowers may be an issue... not sure on that so I'd double check everything.

Leave the ABS disconnected, it won't hurt anything, it's just a sensor.
