5.0 electrical problems(please help)

Ok,heres my problem.......my 92 mustang is giving me problems when I go to start it.Sometimes it starts fine no problems.Other times,I go to start it(interior lights and dash lights do come on),.and it just clicks then nothing.I've replaced the battery, the alternator, the starter solenoid(twice, just to be sure),aand the starter. Now if I pop the hood open, and tap the starter solenoid, all the lights come back on,and it starts right up.Any ideas? Also,I noticed there is some corrosion building upo on the battery leads,I cleaned them with a brush cleaner, still having problems though.

Check out all cables as you may have corroded wires from ignition to solenoid. Not sure about your year but may be inline fuse.

Check your grounds. Sometimes the grounding straps get corroded or broken and don't ground correctly. This would give you the random problems you are getting. I can't see what else it would be since you already replaced the solenoid which is what I would've said was wrong with it.

That was one of the things I checked.I went sunday and got a new positive wire from the solenoid to the battery, looks like that may have fixed it.I'll keep you posted.

make sure you dont tighten the nuts on the selenoid too tight it will bust the internals

I work alot on electrical components and to me it sounds like it's a bad ground IMO

Could be the wiring

This is what happen to me. I cleaned my batt. posts I had read to use baking soda & tooth brush it worked fine...... year later everytime I would hit a bump on road my car felt like it was going to cut off  . I checked everything even had the safety fuel cut off in rear of car replaced, fuel filter & pump replaced after all this I took out the batt. looked at the wiring close up..... here it is  .. The baking soda eat away at the corroson so well it ate at the wiring but you couldn't notice  . So with engine running, shake all wires, wiring under hood one at a time, if you hear or feel car hesitate there is your answer mine was by the starter relay wiring harness, went to junk yard  spliced wiring into my baby 1992 GT5spd she run like a cupcake . Sorry for long story but hope I can help anyone with what drove me nuts, good luck, Al peace.
