5.0 Build Ideas

Hey, I recently inherited a decent amount of cash from a relative, and I decided that I wanted to do a 5.0 build. I have a couple of questions to ask first though...

I am looking into a high-horsepower, streetable machine. I was looking at stroker engines with low compression, so that I could run boost through the engine as well. I read that a 347 stroker can actually be unreliable, because of the placement of the piston rings, and that a 331 can be more reliable, which would be better for a street strip application??

Also, I was also wondering if a single turbo, or a twin turbo would be better for such an application?? I like the sound of blow off valves, and on a V8 with good exhaust, it sounds like the world is ending. Well, lemme know what you think! Thanks!!

if i could do it it would be a 331 stroker with twins and a little bit of spray(no more than a 50 shot)

what are your plans for the car? how fast would you like it to run? how much are you looking to spend on the car? do you have a mustang body already to put the engine into? is it going to be mostly for the strip and occasional street use or a daily driver that will only see the strip once in a while?

No pics yet, I still have to track down the car that I am going to work on, but I am gonna go with a 5.0 Fox body...

And I want this car to be daily drivable, but with a lot of HP. I was thinking around 600 HP is where I want the car.

I haven't thought about completely replacing the motor, but would that cause more complications than just doing a stroker kit in it??

Also, if I were to run turbos, instead of nitrous, couldn't I just up the boost a little bit?

a 600hp car can be completely streetable and a good daily driver as long as it's a turbo car... it's harder to do with a supercharger and i wouldnt try it mostly motor with nitrous. you can add a boost controller, so when you want more power you push a button and turn up the boost. costs a lot more to get it like that but its possible. look into doing a turbo on a 302, start with a stronger block though if you wanna hit 600hp. 347 would be nice but you lose reliabilty and add a lot of weight. a good friend of mine is pushing around 550hp in a 90lx with a custom single turbo set up. i think he started with a dart block (cant remember at the moment). good luck with it however you decide to go.
