Car Jerks While Accelerating

My car has been jerking while I accelerate with more than a 1/4 to 1/2 throttle from the low idle rpm's to about 4000 rpm, after that the acceleration feels smooth. The jerking seems to be caused by the power cutting out for just a part of a second.

I'm going to check plugs, maf, and the air and fuel filter.

Let me know if you think it's something else.

mine did the bucking and jerking and it ended up being the fuel pump so keep that in mind also

IAC should be kept in mind too. Can cause some weird things sometimes.

Plugs and fuel filter with some Seafoam in case you have a little water in the tank.

I was thinking fuel filter. Could be a dirty MAF sensor, worn plugs, something like that.

I ended up taking a look at the plugs and maf and they looked fine. I recently filled up my tank with premium gas, and after running on "E" all the time it seemed to improve. I'm going to change the fuel filter and run though some Seafoam, in hopes that it will fix my problem.

Yup, still sounds like a fuel problem. Did you clean the MAF sensor? Even if it looks fine they can get dirt and oil buildup on them. I spray an electrical contact cleaner on mine every few months to keep it clean. Cheap, easy, and you'll know that it's not the problem. Change that fuel filter and I think you'll be good to go.

I looked at the maf and it looked clean. I have heard of using carb cleaner but have never tried it, does it work the same? I'll change the filter and do the seafoam treatment and let you know, probably tomorrow.

I know we have to do it sometimes but thats one of the worse things you can do.
Do the Seafoam now while the tank is full and you should be good to go.

Get a fuel puressure guage and connect it to your fuel rail

I did the Seafom in the gas, vaccum, and oil yesterday and it seemed to improve, but it still didn't solve the problem. I have yet to change the fuel filter and I'll do it soon. One question though, should I buy it from Ford, an Autozone/Advance type filter, or an Amsoil/Royal Purple, which is best?

Where do you connect a fuel pressure gauge on the stock fuel rail?

I just a get a motorcraft filter from a parts store. Just release the fuel pressure with the schrader valve on the fuel rail, if thats what your wanting the fuel pressure gauge for.

Give it a little time and the rest of the tank full.
