Default Ranger rear end

Will an 8.8" out of a ford ranger fit in the Mustang? Someone's selling an 8.8 /w 3.73s on clist ..not sure if the axles are the same length though.

did they upgrade to a mustang axle? I ask because I was 99% sure that the rangers had the same 7.5 as the V6 stangs, thats why we could find there t-locks for cheap. Maybe in newer years they got the larger diffs.

Nope, the V6 Rangers got the 8.8." I think they only made the 7.5" available for the I4 in the 90's.

However, I'm not sure on length but you do realize the rangers are leaf sprung so you need not only the brackets for the lower control arms and shocks, but, since the uppers connect to the center section, you need a Mustang specific center section. So the answer is no, it won't fit. But if you just want the internals, go ahead. Not sure on the shaft lengths but if they are longer, they can be cut down to size and resplined. This would make a nice cheap 31 spline upgrade.

Problem one is none of your suspension points are on that axle. So if you know how to weld and know how to keep and axle level you can weld on new mounts to the ranger 8.8

However a used 8.8 is a better idea since its a simple bolt on.
