EXHUAST - The Ultimate Showdown....
How do you choose which exhaust... Some people like the SLP LM Series... and Some say Flowmaster 40's...
I am looking for the LOUDest Cat-Back system I can get for under 500 dollars.
Recommendations, and when I say loud it must sound good too...

If your only looking to spend 500 dollars, then you just stuck with getting a cat back. If you want loud without spending money, get Loudmouths. IMO they sound like ****, but if you have to go ahead. If you want to spend more, personally I have a Bassani Catted X Pipe and a Bassani Cat Back and its the best combination I have heard on a Mustang.
There you go.
There you go.

ok.. i googled it.. got it... I just cant decide what I want... Im not sure if I want to do just a Cat Back or if i want to add an X pipe or what ever with it. i will most likely go with just a Cat back but when I go on youtube to listen there is no telling what kinds of mods the people have that are running the cat backs that I searched. So its such a hard decision...

You want the loudest? Take your stock exhaust from the cats back off and put dumps after the cats. Personally though, having a car this loud really isn't practical and I'd stick w/ some good flow-through style mufflers.

Stephen.......why don't you get a nice mild sounding exhaust that will increase your performance and have a nice note that doesn't **** off your neighbors everytime you start your car, allow you to hear what the person in the passenger seat is saying and not bring attention to you from the cops.
Sorry, just get a little annoyed when the goal is to have the loudest exhaust. It doesn't do any good to make a lot of noise if you're not really moving that fast. At least have some grunt to back up the annoying sound. Sorry to be so harsh, just don't want to see more laws passed against car enthusiasts and the loudest exhaust possible is a step in that direction.

jjt is you looked in my original post I said loudest that still sounds good... not the highest decibel.. My old firebird had a crazy exhaust and I miss the sound.
venom I like the SLP Powerflo on the first video but its on a stroked engine, will that make a big difference since my block is completely stock?

Venom has a good suggestion about looking for something used.

I have a sound clip under my sig of my exhaust setup. I have LTs, off-road x-pipe, and flowmaster mufflers. My car is pretty load at WOT, but it under normal driving it isn't that bad. I think it sounds good and I get lots of compliments.

I had an o/r H-pipe and SLP LM1's and it sounded like crap. It was good at idle sounded mean, but at WOT it was not good super loud and no tone just noise. I liked it for like 3 or 4 days then I was over it when I got a warning ticket for it on the 4th day. I replaced it with a Mac catback and then changed that to my own homemade Mac produmps setup and I like it alot. Its pretty loud when at WOT but cruising its not bad I can talk on my phone in the car on the highway etc... Mac has a great tone and sound to them. If money is a problem look for used parts. I got my H-pipe for 70bucks picked up locally.
Oh and don't do flowmasters as every boat, scooter, and lifted camaro has them and they dont flow super well.

SLP LM1 with an X-pipe with no cats will be about the loudest you can find.
Overall, I think SLP makes a great sounding exhaust of very high quality.
If you over 30, you will like SLP. If you are under 30, then you won't. It is about as old-school sounding as it gets on a Mustang.

Dude, Your car sounds perfect. That's how a stang should sound IMHO.. I got flowmaster 40's they Almost sound that good. I need the headers and x pipe.

are those powerflos with the catted x and longtubes...? ive had longtubes+o/r x+powerflos and they were not that loud, and not a setup i would call loud at all, sounds great but not that loud....heck right now i have longtubes+o/r x+lm 2's and its not that loud either, maybe just a tad louder than the powerflos.

it took me over 3 years to decide what exhaust sounded best to me.
SLP Loudmouth, then that catback with a catted SLP x-pipe..after that i switched to magnapacks dumped...2 months later i put an o/r h pipe on...and 4 months after that i put SLP Powerflows on...
so my current setup is a Mac o/r H pipe and SLP Powerflows and it is the best sounding exhaust i have ever heard on a mustang. i love it. i dont plan on changing the configuration except maybe longtubes down the road...but as for as a mid pipe and cat back..theyre here to stay lol

If you want loud now, but with a nice runmble, get a new O/R mid-pipe. The X will have a higher pitch sound, while the H will sound exactally what you have now, just louder. Then you will need a tune or a hand held to turn off the cel for the cats.
