it can be MADE to fit, this guy did exactly that, used a CDC shaker with a stock mach1 hood.

honestly, the effort involved looks to be more of a pain in the ass than just cutting the stock hood.

www.Karkraft.com offers a FRPP shaker setup with a bracked to fit it on the 2valve v8's and that WILL work with a stock hood, that is the setup im running.
