The way I see it, horse collaring is a pussy way to take someone down. The only reason they do it is because someone couldn't tackle the guy so they had to grab ahold of a sure thing. There are plenty of good, hard, clean hits in football. If you know how to tackle, then you can hit someone plenty hard without having to horse collar or helmet to helmet. Take a look at Ronnie Lott. Those were all clean tackles and he knocked the crap out of people.
