That is the damn truth.

There is nothing i would like to see more than america offload itself from oil. Unfortunatly, in that regard what started out as gentle pushes towards oil has turned into an out of control locomotive with an relentless appetite for oil. It is so embedded in the economy and every day life that it will take a very long time to get completly offloaded.

It truly does seem like america is a living entity with an addiction to oil. Try to get something different instead and the government lashes out or prohibits it.

there is a walmart up here that has its own small wind farm on its roof. it generates enough electricity that it actually pumps electricity back into the electrical grid. XCEL the local power company shit a brick when it saw this happening and startd fighting claw tooth and nail to get the locl govt to shut down walmarts wind farm.
luckily walmart won.

it is the small things like the hybrid cars, small private wind farms, hyper effecient products, and stuff that were finally starting to see that speak of a possible change. We cant do an overnight change, but the longer time goes the more of this stuff will be out there the more it will be used. Once other companys see that walmart probably dumped 5 years worth of electrical payments into a single wind farm that will not only generate all its electricity but the electrical company has to write walmart a check each month because it is generating more electricity than it can use.

were starting to make the right steps, it will take time though. and as lame as it sounds we all have a part to play in this too. I wont even buy regular bulbs anymore, only the super effecient kind that last 7 years. I wont buy any electrical appliance that is not EnergyStar compliant either.

its a small bit, but if everyone does it it will help.
