Unforunately, you can look up about 50 other articles saying there will never be a playoff, written by sportswriters with more publicity and pull then that guy. IMO, the stubborn few that grew up with bowl games are keeping the system in tack because of "tradition". We'll most likely have to wait until they are too old or gone before the next generation tries something different. I honestly don't see what's wrong with a little trial and error. They can't possibly fug the system up anymore than it is. Try a playoff, if they really lose that much money (which I doubt), then they can always switch back. I don't believe in the "regular season being a playoff" argument. If they switch to a playoff, it's not like losses become unimportant. You can't just go through the motions and expect to make the playoffs. Every game will determine whether you get a shot and better regular season teams will be rewarded with a higher seeding. (ex. every other damn sport)
