Default Graphic Equalizer

Have a Pioneer 5900IB, integrated into the Mach460 speakers and amplifiers using the metra 77-5519 wiring harness, and I notice I usually have a difficult time fine tuning the built in EQ to the proper frequencies...so I bought a brand new Ultra Linear 7 Band EQ off ebay to help correct the problem.

The manual says if you have the high impedance, low output (RCA's) you don't need to wire it with the low impedance, high output (wires). So basically what it's saying if my head unit has RCA Outputs I won't need to connect the wires from my EQ that hook to my factory speakers, that the RCA Preouts should take care of all that?

S I got everything hooked up, power, ground, and the rcas from the head unit to the EQ. (I have more than enough preouts also on my head unit). Power comes on, the little red and yellow lights come on with the music but when I adjust the settings, I don't hear any differences at all.

So I tried to call the number on Ultra Linear's Webpage for technical assistance, but no one answered.

just wondering if their instructions might be wrong and I do have to wire the EQ to the speakers, and connect the RCAs from the head unit to the EQ?
