I ended up with a gouged k-member and fugged up mufflers out of it. Came down a steep hill that leveled off all sudden like going kinda too fast. G-forces at the bottom compressed the newly shortened soft supple factory suspension to the point that my k-member touched the ground and the mufflers discovered what impact feels like.
Don't cut your springs. That was coming down a hill kinda fast... not finding a random hidden speed bump (those hurt), railroad tracks, a big ass pothole, etc... I promptly paid for real lowering springs and that solved that problem (cost me a k-member and a cat back too but lesson learned).
My total cut to each spring was 1/2 coil.
Cutting lowering springs is a different story. Sometimes those need a trimmin', not often but it happens. We all recall the H&R lift kit springs that MT had trouble with.
