I see, you're talking about getting bunched up where the intake tube hooks onto the throttle body? (I think)

That will happen b/c you're going bigger around so you have to stretch it to get it on. If that's the case, depending on how bad it's bunched up, you might be getting unmetered air in there and causing issues.

One of my favoritte things to do was to forget to plug my MAF back in. It still runs but like crap.
