comp does grind an advance into their cams which allows you to in theory install them straight up. VT... dunno.

Don't forget you have to replace the cam sprocket bolt on cams with bolt on gears. They're TTY. ARP makes reusable ones IIRC. Timing the cams is a PITA if they're not dead on at the keyway. I've seen the keyway ground and welded to change the angle of the dangle and I've seen Fidanza style cam gears used. In either case you're changing the timing of valve events relative to crankshaft position. Similar to ignition timing but with cams the changes are more significant in their effect for the same number degrees changed.
