yeah i agree, self preservation is definatly important. There is definatly a different between dicipline and abuse. Smackin yer kid upside the head cause they mouth off is dicipline, however, grabbing a bat and beating the crap out of them is a whole other beast.
i just thing socioty got too wrapped up in this politically correct stuff and lost sight of the different learning abilitys humans have as well as the need to instill dicipline.
Now if you smack yer kid yer an ABUSER. Then you see these kids on TV on those daytime shows running amok, breakin stuff, screaming at thier pareents, and one thing they all have in common is thier parents fail to instill diciple. they threaten to take away thier xbox but never follow through. they threaten to ground them but never follow through.
beating a kid senceless is never a good idea. Nor is burning, whipping, or any of that. But a wmack upside the head or a good spanking when they deserve it important to a healthy upbringing.
dont confuse my view that smacking a kid that is out of line means that i advocate abuse, which as the supreme court says about porn "you know it when you see it"
