well if your car is stock under the hood....you have a lot of money to spend if you want to even have a chance to keep up with him. but i would say every bolt on (full exhaust, tb/plenum, cai, pulleys), gears, cams, and a new torque converter would help you beat a manual TA. if its an auto then you could prolly get by without the cams or torque converter.
