That is a bit over-stated.

If you compare a $36k WRX to a $25 Mustang GT, OK...we are not as fast. But, if you compare like cost to like cost, we are plenty fast.

Also dont forget that the Mustang are mass produced in large quantities. The Neon SRT's....GONE! Most of these newer, tuner cars that are fast, are only made in limited quantities.

In general, cars have gotten faster and faster in recent years. And the fact is that the difference between a 13.5 car and a 14.2 car is nearly negligible in a street race. And, it depends on what speed your going etc...in some cases the slower car will win.

When I was your age, the coolest thing was to own a Mustang Fox Body. They were about as fast as anything on the road. Stock, they were 0 - 60 cars in 6.5 seconds. Now a days, SUV's are that fast....station wagons are faster. The barrier has gotten tougher.

Enjoy your Mustang because it is a Mustang.
