They do work, but it's a small gain. I know a guy with a GT that ran low 12's high 11's without a power adder that used one and swore it dynoed at a 8 hp increase. If you buy an after market plenum they have tha raise built in to them. It basically lengthens the runners which will add a little grunt down low.
You can get a spacer and port the factory plenum with a Dremmel tool. I ported mine and did pick up 1 miles per hour at the track.
